Monifa Jansen was initially crowned Miss Universe Curacao 2011, but she couldn't compete due to age requirements. She was born in March 1993, in order to compete in Miss Universe you have to be at least 18 years old by February 1st. Monifa was 17.
The organisation decided to send her to Miss Universe 2012 as she now meets the age requirement. During this period, Monifa had the opportunity to compete in Miss World 2011 and she had time to improve her qualities to be ready to face the competition.
